Just out of curiosity, are you supposed to count the x's on an imperial round, I thought that was FITA standard only.?

Not certain, but i`ve been told that if 2 archers score exactly the same then the number of "X`s" decide the winner

Thats why I was not sure, thats why I thought on FITA you counted the X's, and on Imperial rounds you count the golds, then hits, etc etc...or something like that

Yep X's are only on FITA rounds but most scorecards are set up for both, hence the X column on some imperial scoresheets.

And a little history...
Back when I started 'X' meant 'gold' (10 or 9, depending on the round) and there were no inner ten rings.
A while later a decree from above came that 'X' now meant 'miss'....
Then after another interlude we were told 'X' was to be used for the inner 10 only and misses were to marked as 'M'...

And then there is the Worcester. Shoot at 20 yds, 16 inch face (4 faces per boss, 1 archer per face ) white centre 3.2 inch dia which scores 5 then black rings worth 4,3,2,1. Ends shot of 5 arrows, 2.5 doz on top face, then 2.5doz on bottom face.
