My other half is the best shooting buddy I've ever had Often, the only times I get to shoot are outside club nights, so it's generally just us two. Most of the time we stick at mutual distances, such as 70m and 50m. We're pretty similar in score levels at those distances, and regularly one of us starts off well which pulls the other along..
Seems like I'm lucky

awww..what a lovely story! Ignoring each other during shooting and practise sounds good to me

So.................here is my solution....................only talk to single ladies or other people's wives when shooting.......cant go wrong.
There arent that many women at my club but Im trying to get to know the few there are as and when they turn up. Lucky for me there are a few members in the club who really make me laugh, whether its intentional or not is another story, so that always helps!

haha - I thought that too when I first read it. However, being a girlie myself, that particular piece of advice would cause no problems for me on that score!

Obviously not enough incentive for you Marcus. Or perhaps too much, in which case you need to work on your mental game.
You got that right.
Also got to stop challenging Ice Princess to shoot 10's.

We very much enjoy shooting together... we are fairly competitive so we're always comparing scores, but we also help each other a great deal. (Sometimes we even help each other to get our kit away/tent down etc. at the end of a shoot. - now that's dedication! )

If we're hurting physically there's always a massage ready and waiting from the other, and if we're hurting mentally, there's always good positive words and encouragement.

The only advice we offer each other at tournaments is positive stuff... we agree when each wants the other to do some coaching, so we don't get any "interference" issues. We sometimes do joint video/stills camera sessions and sit together afterwards and analyse the results.

There's nothing more we enjoy than watching each other shoot. All in all it works very well.

Interesting thread, here's my twopenn'th.

We will often shoot at the same target if.. I put it up
I will stay on that target working on my form, tuning, or whatever
She will go off for a natter after shooting perhaps 2doz' arrows
I go to help somebody with their equipment... nocing point or whatever, I get "I thought you were watching me". & so it goes on.
I guess that this is due to the fact I am shooting Compound & she is with her Recurve. When we shoot the same disciplines there is no problem, except staying in front on the points

Sounds like heaven to me Murray! To be fair, we only had a wee fall out over shooting line position. We had been standing in the same place all night and suddenly he pushed in between me and the guy to my right pushing me far up the left and I was now shooting at an angle and it was the last round. I tried to explain we should all keep to our places once we start shooting so that we can get some kind of consistancy for that days shoot but no, he wasnt having it "I want to be in front of the boss this time" kind of thing!! There was also some "discussion" about him standing too close and bashing my bow with his bow all the time!

We talk about archery all the time and enjoy watching video clips and researching it and 95% of the time we actually do fine together and have fun, and help each other along. I guess the problem arises from me acquiring lots of knowledge from all the questions I ask so I know more "theory" than he does. When I make a suggestion "coach said this" kind of thing I think he gets miffed and perhaps thinks Im just being awkward or something.

We have agreed that I will not "interfere" with his shooting unless he asks me, but if he interferes in mine he only has himself to blame! haha

Anyway, I caved in and bought him some new arrows last night and so Im his best buddie now Bribary gets you everywhere
