| i was at a shoot yesterday and the same thing happened - except his dad was shouting to him where the arrows were going (red, 7 [o'clock] etc...) they were also on a target right next to the jugdes tent but nothing was said he was about as subtle as a brick. i didnt bring it up to the judge as i was having a bad day and didnt want to be accused of sour grapes so to speak. also the judge was from his club......

| Hmmmm, I can think of two fairly well-known archers who would do well to read the rules book. I haven't ever said anything to them, because it didn't particularly bother me. But I've seen it happen in semi-finals and finals of major UK events - archers looking over their shoulders for guidance during H2H finals. |

| Good point I'm not sure if the GNAS ruling applies to Olympic round? Especially in the Head-to-heads where active "audience participation" is encouraged... hmmm. Section 7.4.6 of the FITA rules states "While an athlete is on the shooting line he may receive non-electronic coaching information from the team management, provided that this does not disturb the other athletes."

| Is there any advantage to putting coaches in boxes, and should we put more coaches in boxes, or more boxes.? |

| it is generally accept at all levels of archery that the important part of that rule is the "doesn't interfere with other competitors part". It is well expected for indviduals to spot and give advice on where arrows land for other competitors and it is churlish to deny them that neither would any judge. As to coaching, this is not tennis!! the individual archers may recieve coaching and information from other parties if: A: it does not interfere with anyone else shooting B: it is delivered in a non electronic way (actually a rule invented for safety same as not shooting with a walkman on). I Have been a ratified coach at a few international events and have given information and spotted for my athletes during qualification and head to heads. I have similarly done the job where ratification were not necessary at fita stars around the world and have never had a problem. Please dont start using terms like "cheat" in these cases |
