Portsmouth Round

Shooting indoors last night I think I shot a practice Portsmouth round. I shot 5 dozen arrows from 20yds at a 60 cm face and scored 10, 9, 8, 7 etc (Recurve).

It's just it seemed a very big face to be aiming at and I scored 536, which suprised me considering I've only shot 4 times since starting up again after a 5 year break.

RE: Portsmouth Round

Yes it is a large face. However there is still the remaining 64 points to get which is not so easy

Oh, I realise that! However looking at the SAA results for last winter a score of 536 would've put me in the middle of the field for all the results shown. That is really encouraging, so I'll be confident I can enter indoor comps this winter and know I'm not likely to be last

Better go and buy some green trousers...

RE: Portsmouth Round

I've just recently#been shooting 20 yards outdoors along with the normal outdoor rounds, but had been shooting at#a 40cm face. When I put up the 60cm face for the AIUK league shoot I was shocked at how big the yellow looked!

Still didn't mean I shot any better though :-)#

RE: Portsmouth Round

I shall have to shoot mine Monday morning or else I'm stuck this month!! We shall be setting up an indoor target at Guisley Radsbow, it is about 20 yds (give or take an inch or 2). We shall shoot there throughout the winter on an evening, you are welcome to join us if you feel like it (as is anyone else who wants to travel!!).

RE: Portsmouth Round

I find it good shooting with people who compete as they are continually trying to improve - I'm not knocking people who do it for enjoyment who are also trying to improve but I have found that I shoot better if people have higher expectations or hopes!!

RE: Portsmouth Round

I think that's what I need, as there is only me who shoots regularly at our club - Although I have managed to persuade 3 others to join us at Adel on Sunday

RE: Portsmouth Round

It certainly makes a difference to me, I always try harder if someone is better than me - I have nothing to prove is I am better than others. Did that make sense?? I don't try as hard if I know I can beat someone comfortably!! Wrong attitude I know but thats just how it is - at the moment anyway!!
