Classifications???

This is probably a stupid question that I will get answered in a few weeks, but I'll ask any hoo....

How do you get the different classification levels ie. 1st, 2nd etc??? Do you need to be shoting in an organised event, or can you record your score at anytime, as long as its verified???

Thanks
Alistair

Fairly simple, well, it is at he lower levels.

For 3rd, 2nd, 1st and Bowman, you have to shoot 3 scores at formal events or at club recognised shoots. SOme rounds have a maximum level you can get. For Master Bowman and Grand Master they must be shot at record status events.

Have a search and you will find a recent thread on this with more detail.

Regards,

Sponge

...and the levels you require for each classification are in the tables that come with the GNAS Rules of Shooting.
And a "club recognised shoot" can be as trivial as a normal club shooting night.

Have a word with your Club Records Officer - we're the ones who normally collate all the scores! Basically you need 3 scores for each classifion in its simplistic form. Have fun

Since I'm currently our (usually harassed!) Club Records Officer, and fed up of being asked what scores for what classification in each age and bow category (there are quite a few to remember!), I've posted the GNAS Classification rules and tables on our website... (you may have to scroll down the page a little to get to the tables - and since we're a totally senior recurve club, I'm afraid there ain't much by way of Compound or Longbow tables!)

It doesn't seem to have stopped 'em asking, though!!

Slightly diversification of the subject, but does anyone know if the GNAS have put out handicaps/classifications for the FITA 60?

a) Handicaps you can work out from the "3 dozen at 60m" table.
b) I think, technically, it is called the "FITA 60 meter(sic) round for cadets" and the FITA 720 should be the "FITA 70 meter round". Classifications should be fun! Watch this space!

I stand corrected good sir!

Yes, I had guessed that might be a way after looking up 3 doz at 70m and extrapolating ( ) to 6 doz.

I guess it'll fall on Neil Dimmocks shoulders to give the round a classification!

Chris

Once you have the handicaps you can easily work out the classification. For any particular age group look at other rounds. The classification is at an identical handicap level.

Thus for Gents recurve a 1st class score (if it is available for that round) will fall at the 44 hcap level.
