More Portsmouth Round

At the club last night- shooting in semi-darkness I tried my first Portsmouth round of the new winter season and shot a PB 530 including an end of five 10s and a 9. Feeling really pleased with myself so I had to share

Key factors- new grip (taken off the wooden one & replaced it with racket tape & padding), better release & not being able to see the target properly

Bring on the indoor season!!!

Pete

RE: More Portsmouth Round

No, don't bring on the indoor season! I'm just starting to get the kind of scores I'm wanting, and now the Summer's nearly over. Same thing happened to me last year -- didn't start shooting well till the end of Summer, then we went indoors and I lost it all.

When I went to the club on Sunday, the rugby pitch we shoot on looked lovely -- lush grass and all the lines freshly marked out. But it was a depressing sight for me because I knew the fresh line markings meant the rugger b*ggers would soon have their cloven hooves all over it, turning it into a quagmire. Despite that, I intend to stay outdoors as much as poss this Winter.

Congratulations on the PB though, Pete.

RE: More Portsmouth Round

If I remember Illingworth you'll be having to cope with being blown sideways by this time of year as well....?

Yes, it's great kite-flying country! The wind on our ground is a bit odd because of the stand running along about half the touchline. It's a straight side-wind where the archers stand and where the targets are, but a weird swirly wind in-between. Good for excuses, though.

RE: More Portsmouth Round

I remember Illingworth more because I had a vacation job at a biscuit factory over that way!
