Archery friendly campsites

I hope this hasn't appeared in another thread - I did do a quick search.

Since my hubby and I have been doing archery, our other love of camping seems to been pushed onto a back-burner.

Ideally, we would love to combine the two interests and wondered if anyone knows of campsites which would be open to having a couple or three archers shooting in a quiet corner? Sites in the northwest or wales would be perfect!

Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

You could always contact a local club before you go camping and see if they'd let you shoot as a guest.

Wrong direction, I know..

There used to be someone who advertised in archery UK - worth a search through the back issues perhaps?

Murray - that looks perfect, although the distance would make it a bit tricky for a weekend. We will definately give it a try next summer though.

Thank you

My club the Euston Park bowmen shoot at Euston Park near Thetford in Norfolk. I know there is a caravan site there but I am not sure about camping. You could contact the treasurer of the club I will PM you the number and you can contact Euston hall on 01842766366.

You could always camp at a multi-day shoot.

I have camped (oh er missus) at Long Mynd - 4 day double fita (also known as a pis&* up)

Devises county champs ( another pi*& up), bit of a theme going on here.

+ many others.

Instead of looking for a camp site that allows archery, go the other way and look for a two or three day tournament that has camping. Like you, my son and I love to shoot and to camp, there are many tournaments that have camping alongside the shooting field, the facilities aren't perhaps as good as a commercial site but the benefits are many, it's usually cheaper, you get to know many archers from all over the country and the whole atmosphere is brilliant.

IMO if I was going for a holiday, I wouldn't want to be doing a tournament too

However, if you DO want a good week or of lots of archer plus camping in beautiful surroundings, then you could do worse than go to the Skye week http://www.scottisharchery.org.uk/skye/skye.shtml is a report from 2002.
Again, it's not exactly a weekend break, but it certainly is something out of the ordinary and you can try your hand at different types of archery.

There's also other outdoor centres which accomodate archery e.g.
http://www.lagganlia.com/activities.htm - again probably too far north, but you might have something near you, so worth a search to see what you can find under outdoor activity centres

Just an idea
