Not to be confused with the Thirsk Portsmouth.. ahem..

Shot my first Portsmouth today (first time indoors too.. strange!) Shot 522, my question is.. what is / is that any good!!?? I'm (just) second class and been shooting on and off for 6 months but have nothing to benchmark my inddor scores against.. any help gratefully received!!

Well, I think it's good!

Hopefully this is a link to indoor classifications so you can see where you are in the grand scheme of things!

So how do the indoor letters compare roughly to outdoor classes? Or is it designed so you don't compare! 522 sounds pretty darn good for a first Portsmouth to me!

I don't know, I know I don't perform the same in and outdoors... Outdoors I'm bowmanish standard (made it, but have slumped a bit), indoors I'm about a 520

You're welcome! I don't know if you are a gent or a lady, but I'm classified 2nd Class (and I'm a girl) and I can't get past 465 for a portsmouth!
So really well done!!

Thanks!! I've been looking forward to indoors after doing well at (and only well at) 30m .. outdoors.. MISSING HORRIBLY AT 90M and giving the bowmen a scare (Ok almost keeping up with!) at 30m at Fitas..

Going to have me a slice of cake, and I think I might crack open the posh glasses and the 18yr old Malt (Macallan for those who care of such things)
Any excuse!!

Congratulations!

I just got 321 on my first Portsmouth, so 522 is fantastic

....from my point of view anyway.

You shot well Richard, and you enjoyed it- thats ALL that matters.
Same time next week for us when I hope to shoot 500+ (but it only takes a couple of bad shots to ruin the whole round.)

I think the shorter distance rounds are very challenging as they really punish mistakes.

I'm a 3rd class pushing 2nd this year, next year its Bowman, no excuses.

522 is a good score for your first portsmouth, many congrats...

it probably works out to be a good second class score standard...roughly..
