Posting Trad. Bows

I'm in the process of trying to buy an AFB from somebody in Berkshire. They were hoping to get Royal Mail to send it but they says it's too long and other couriers they've tried say they won't do it (as it's classed as a weapon/munitions I think). They have a solution, it's just going to cost a little more, but I was wondering if this is a common problem?
