Hunting simulator at Bowplus

Hi gang,

I spent an hour this morning with Kae at Bowplus playing on the simulator. Absolutely fantastic fun, and I highly recommend it. In fact, I reckon we need to get some more of us in the area (and from further afield, if you fancy it) to spend the day there, taking turns on the simulator. You can have up to 6 people shooting at once, and the cost per head drops the more people you have shooting. They even have a few bows you can borrow, including a sweet little 58in Border Khan, and arrows even long enough for the likes of me.

Thanks Kae - lots of fun.

It was a fantastic morning

Right, I'm happy to organise an AIUK simulator-shoot if anyone would be interested in shooting?

Simulator Shoot involves:
  • Using your own bow (or a borrowed one from the range available - this does vary).
  • Using either the arrows supplied or your own arrows adapted with RPS inserts and special blunt piles (flat with reflective backing).
  • Shooting at moving video of Large and/or Small game (including Elephants, giraffes, mountain goats, lions, turkey's etc)
  • Shooting 5 arrows each, alternating between the number of archers shooting one at a time.
  • This can be shot with any type of bow of (almost) any poundage, unfortunatley compounds of 80# may not be possible
  • This can be done with or without sights, and if we run it as a comp would obviously need to be a ruling on this.
So what does everyone think?? We can run this on a Saturday or possibly even a Sunday.

Anyone interested?
There would be a charge, but as John said, the more people that shoot, the less it would be individually.

PS The Store is located in Whitchurch.

Wish I could give it a try but 700 mile round trip is too much I'm afraid, any more info or links on how it works?

it uses a large screen that is flooded with infra red. this then picks up the arrow impact as the arrows have special blunted disc points/ends on them.

all clever stuff

hi guy's,
bowplus is our regular haunt/ nearest shop [spend far to much each visit] our club is going on the 19th Nov, Castle Bowmen Denbigh. Nth Wales.Got to psyche myself up to shoot animal targets for the first time [i know they are not real] but i really have this mental barrier that stops me from shooting at anything that resembles our 4 [2] legged friends. anyway can't wait even if it shooting at the normal targets. chance to try out that border khan. oh what fun

I've never had any qualms about shooting at an animal target, but after Kae told me the simulator featured giraffes I spent the entire time hoping and praying that a giraffe didn't appear on the screen as I'm really not sure I could have brought myself to shoot it. Silly I know, but I'm rather fond of them.
