Legality of shooting in back garden?

I know plenty of us do it and as far as I'm aware its not illegal, and apart from the obvious rule of not shooting at people or animals what is the legall take on Archery in the garden? Any one know the law on this?

For a bit more background on this and an explanation as to why I ask the question take a look at this thread, that will explain why I'm a tad worried about shooting in the garden atm

It was not a deliberate plug for my forums, their is a genuine problem with a neighbour which is giving me reason to worry about the legality of shooting in my garden, the link was only posted to give the full background,

Back to the original question then please, can I get 'done' for shooting in my garden, what are the guidlines if any?

You can only read the thread by joining and logging in to the Archer's Rest Forum. You'd do better to cut and paste the post into AIUK if you want more folk to look at it.

Very simple, a bow is an offensive weapon when produced in public, the question is, how do you define public, is out the back of your house defined public where a neighbour is in close proximity. You will not be covered by GNAS insurance unless you can setup a shooting range which complies with the GNAS rules of shooting, Once you have complied with said rules, then you need at least Two GNAS registered members to make it a legal range. Outwith all of that your on your own, cause an acident and you will be sued and no one else, ask yourself is it worth it.

Thanks

No you don't - as long as you are over 18, the area is fenced all round, and the public have no legal right of access.

Oh, and where there are two required (on areas to which the public have a right of access) only one need be an archer.
