Talking Rogue Club Members

Hrmm A wee curious question

If a member of a club chooses his or her own club logo design, applies it to a green shirt and then wears the shirt to competition, it could be said correctly that the member was misrepresenting the club.

Can a club comittee member withdraw that member from a competition by force via either the judges or the tournament organiser ?

I aint no expert but I cant see how? Its just the same as me wearing an addidas shirt to a shoot. Doesnt mean I shoot for Addidas does it? We have it in our club. A couple have shirts with our club name on it but different logo to club logo. I cant see it being a problem. Unless its offensive to someone.

Personally I feel getting him/her withdrawn from a comp would be a little petty, but not knowing circumstances leading up to this it would be hard to comment, are they are consistently flounting the rules of the club etc, the comittee would have grounds to approach the member and ask the to refrain from wearing said items in the future I would have thought. Is the club logo and its appearence mentioned in the clubs constitution?

Unless the competition is specifically a team event between clubs, then the archer is entered as an individual and can wear what they like as long as it complies with GNAS dress code as far as the competition is concerned. As I see it, the club would only have a case if the archer was indulging in 'behaviour likely to bring the club into disrepute'. If he was trading using the name of the club, then there might be case for redress, but that would be an issue between the club and the archer and nothing to do with the competition. Unless the archers actions damage the club in some way, then he is quite allowed to include than name of the club on any bit of kit he likes.

I'm no legal expert but I can imagine this drastic measure leading you liable to charges of assault

No-one's ever said anything to me, and I've worn all manner of modified kit to competitions while representing four different clubs...

I do know of a club consisting of a few (3 or so) members that have their own club colours, logo and gnas registration but no shooting ground and the members do all their practice with other clubs and are consideried a bit rogue at those clubs... so if you really want you own logo you can start your own club!

If the person is not brining the club into disrepute or trading under that logo then it would be best to just turn a blind eye. The more you give these matters creedance by taking note of them the more the new logo person is likely to defend what he see as his right(even if he is wrong) to wear his logo.

I guess there are 2 sides to every story - I'd find out why they chose to wear a different logo (if it was identifiable as the club logo).
