| The main problem, as youve already said, is keeping the flame alight. We achieved this by using rolls of cotton material, doused in BBQ lighter fluid, then letting it burn and take hold for 30 seconds or so, then firing it! If you fire it too soon, the flame hasn't caught onto the material, and is only buring the propellant, and it goes out. It makes an awesome sound through the air ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Another way is to use bitumen, and as Kae said, let it burn few sec's to catch. Also bind the cloth tightly with twine, to stop early unraveling. ![]()

| There was an excellent article in one of the archery mags earlier this year about this. I'll have a look tonight to see if I still have the copy. Robin | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Petrol is probably not a good idea as the vapours can explode. I saw a fire brigade video showing why not to use petrol to light a barbecue. The guy lighting it (in one of those metalic fire suits) was engulfed in a fieball when the cloud of petrol vapour around the barbecue exploded as he tried to light it! ![]()
