Courses Hi was wonderin if I was able to take a begginer couse somewhere and if it was possible to do the course in 1 week. Because I live in Ireland Which is not so great for arching. Thanks Seb.

Some clubs are flexible enough to fit the course to the archer. It would need some searching to find a list of clubs near you and ask about who runs the beginner's courses. Talk directly to those people and you may find the help you need. If you rang someone at my club, for example, you might be told about the course starting in January. If you talked directly to me, I might be persuaded to run a set of sessions just for you. Other members of the club would not speak for me on a matter like that. If you show the person concerned that you are serious, they may look at your situation more favourably. I hope that helps. ![]()

I'm pritty sincere all depends on how much and when I get a flight to england because I live in Ireland which i have mentioned above I think. If not then my bad. I'd like to do a course in england beacuse, as far as I know there is nothing like that here. Also is there such a thing as a register or documentation stating that you have achieved this? Thanks, Seb

I've shot and I can endure a bit of shooting thats not a problem plus I'm use to expose my body to muscle straining activities. I can shoot and hit a 60cm target at 18 metres np. I'm intrested in doing this course because I was told that most clubs wont let you shoot before you have done this course. So my actual question (when I think about it now it is quite silly) is if I shoot in Ireland and have not done a beginners course in England will a club allow me to Shoot there or will I still have to do a beginners course?? Thanks Seb.

Hi Seb, I slightly mis understood your first question. Many clubs will accept an archer who has done a beginners course elsewhere. If the club you want to join knows about the club that did your beginners course, that can be better.

Thanks. Was just wonderin how I would go about advancing in England cos your country is better than here..... If you have a safe job that is. People say that oh i'm bowman or master bowman but how is that decided when or how they go up a rank. From what I've gathered here its basicly just shoot get better and move to a smaller target. Thanks again for the reply's Seb.

Whats an improver course??. Thanks Seb.

| Hi do you not have anything resembling the GNAS in Ireland ? As for beginners and Improvers courses these are far from formal training courses ![]() Beginners course = basic introduction to archery run by the clubs after which clubs willl accept membership and you become registered with the GNAS Membership with GNAS (or other equivelent Archery Society ) is required to shoot on Club grounds as part of the membership is insurance, also most clubs will allow members of other clubs to shoot on their grounds provided they are GNAS members.Improvers courses are also far from formal some clubs run them some don`t generally they`re a short course run by coaches/more experienced archers to assists recent beginners to learn a bit more detail about they`re sport and how to progress. Gradings upto Bowman are done through the clubs also simply shoot 3 scoring rounds at club shoots and submit scores to the club scorer/secretary ![]() Take a peek at the Docs in my siggie for the variety of rounds that can be shot for classifications
