Fibreglass bows are much lower poundage than 33lbs - more like 12.

Then that would be fine. But Im not sure wha the legal implications would be though. I can imagine some one getting shot alot and going to the police or something silly. Guess you would needs all participants to sign some sort of liability waver form or something. But i would be up for it any way.

Yeah I reckoned more or less the same waiver you'd use for re-enactment or paintball. Obviously masks would be a must...Now we just need a wood, some paint, some blunts, and some rubbish bows.

All paintball, shooting at other people, with air pressure or pb on pyle, or anything resembling this is assumed to A) be in an agreed group of cognisant adults who understand the conditions and risks, B) who Always wear All of the Necessary protective gear, C) who will quit before getting unduly injured, D) who will play by the rules for the fun of the chase.
Now, an AIUK PaintBow league sounds like great fun. Except that I'm on the other side of the pond. Perhaps an AIUSA PaintBow league would be good. A whole new subindustry. Perhaps we could get covered by ESPN.

NOTE: The current MSRP for the Airow Gun is $299 USD. I do not have any current retailer info. Yes, it is made by Bowtech. I got my first info from the Realtree newsletter.

Naa, what looks silly is the quiver on the front and set to get in the way. That AND it appears... that he has strung the poor bow backwards. I base this on the fact that the vast majority of those bows are recurves and the recurve area of the bow in this photo is acutally a very exaggerated curve. Somebody slap that bow, then train him properly.

To paintball, the choice of using a 55-60# bow is to generate enough air pressure to reach the 250-300 fps on the paint ball. The only reason to use bows under 30# would be for direct contact, ball on arrow point style shooting.

As for fiberglass, "rubbish" bows, I heartly disagree. Firstly, I have several all fiberglass bows with draw weights from 10 to 35+ pounds. So you can get as strong as you like. Secondly, I also have several self wood or laminated wood bows with the exact same draw weights, so using a low poundage bow does not mean using something you don't like. Thirdly, a good working bow that suits your purpose is, by definition, not rubish. Personally, I think the only reason you would want to use an all fiberglass bow is because you expect to treat it like rubish and knock the daylights out of it, like any untrained child would do. Which is exactly why these bows were designed and sell so well. A good solution to suit the conditions. Just a thought.

I'm stoked that other people are so excited about this.

I once got hit with one of them just under the eye during my days at Peckforton Castle. Unfortunately the orc had used a piece of galvanised metal for the shaft (made the spine a bit stiffer...) and it was sticking through the sponge. Didn't notice the blood for a while as the sponge was coated in red paint to mark the 'hit', it smarted a bit I can tell you.....
