| Different arrows in the same competition Anyone know if it's legal under GNAS or FITA rules to use different types of arrow, or even different set ups in the same tournament? I'm thinking outdoor FITA's, Aces for the three longer distances but Ally's for the 30m (for their linecutting benifits but also to prolong the life of the Aces). Taking it one stage further you could even have a separate set up optimised for 30m.

| I used to use to sets for outdoor. I was shooting low poundage at the time and ali's were too heavy to hit the distances. So I shot really light arrows for the longer distances but they were not great so I would switch back to the alis which were better suited to my bow at the shoter distances. I had no problems at compitions with this set up. I did have both sets in my quiver for inspection and the judge knew I was going to shoot both sets. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| I believe as long as both setups are inspected at the start of the shoot it is perfectly legal. Although it is good form to check with your target companions before getting out the fat allys at 30m. ![]()

| I would be interested in a definitive answer to this as I have been thinking about doing the same, more to prevent damage at the shorter distances than anything else. Guess a mail to GNAS would be in order.

| I'd highly recommend against it, Dave. James Park has calculated the line-cutting ability of 2315's against X10's at 30m. For someone shooting 340+ (you, for instance), you would only gain an extra 1-2 points due to linecutters. Bear in mind though, this figure is based on perfect conditions; no wind, good light, etc. You would also have to think that, unless you have another full setup perfectly tuned for those arrows, you'll need to change the button, the rest and (I'd imagine) the string. Forget to do one of those and you've lost an end of 3 arrows... If you want to prolong the life of your ACE's, get X10's! ![]() |
