Deletion of Husband and Wife Poll

I would like to thank those who took part in the poll (in the poll's section) regarding the question about 'Husband and Wife' categories in competitions.

This post has been deleted by a moderator as it was deemed inflammatory.

If by asking who a 'Husband and wife' category should be limited to, I have upset anyone, I can only apologise.

I did my best to ensure all categories were covered as I know how 'PC' everything seems to be these days, so did not want to offend anyone. I was using this poll to gather information for a meeting on Wednesday and regret that it was not allowed to continue.

I do appreciate that it is necessary for the moderators to control postings and I therefore accept the decision and will not repost this poll.

Best wishes to all

Deemed inflamatory in what way?

Seemed a perfectly innocent question to me...

...or did it evolve into something else?

No, just as you saw it.

Perhaps the Mod was worried it could develop into something.

Yes, of course.

I can see how a question about husbands and wives could blow out of all proportion on this forum with some of the members that we get on here

It amazes me how a thread such as "I've broken my PB" doesn't turn into an anti-semitic rant considering our members

Sorry, I think I may have become a little facetious

As I've just said in my PM to you, leaving things unsaid can be as inflammatory as saying them. Your post lacked context. Also, the use of the terms "politically correct" or "PC" is always a bad sign.

As I've said, feel free to re-post but please add some context.

Tim

I have just PM'd a reply to you and given a full explanation of the context and why I did not want to disclose it in an open forum.

To clarify: It has nothing to do with homosexual same sex civil partnerships which are dealt with on exactly the same basis as married couples by our club.

As I mentioned in my PM regarding your statement that "the use of the terms "politically correct" or "PC" is always a bad sign." my wife and myself both served in the army, I served for 16 years through the Falklands, first Gulf war and 2 years in Northern Ireland. I believe I have earned the right to make comment on political correctness. Yes I do believe the Country is much worse off because of PC views and supression of the rights of the majority to pander to minorities. I find most (but not all) those who object to non-PC views being expressed have done little or nothing to actually put their neck on the line, but are quite happy for others to fight for the freedom they enjoy.

I suppose this post will be cancelled too !

ALL people who pander to political correctness should be put on an island and left their! It's these kinds of people that make life hell for the majority of the population!
