Speaking of archery related laws...

When I lived in Arizona (2000-2002) I was informed that I should check with the local bizzies because there is apparently a law still on the statute books (if that is what they call them here) that made it illegal to transport a strung up bow...something to do with the Apache indians and making holes in the white settlers.

...apparently it has never been repealed

I remember from somewhere that it's also illegal to hunt camels in Arizona - connection perhaps? :undecided

This is probably just an Archery 'urban legend', but apparently a law still exists in the British statute books that an Englishman can go to Monmouth, on the Welsh border, and legally shoot a Welshman with a longbow, provided he's standing on one bank of the River Severn, and the welshman is standing (? - I'd be running, myself!) on the other bank...
I think there's also a similar one involving shooting Scotsmen in Carlisle...

As I said, it's probably an 'urban legend'...

I'm just upset that they've repealed the law that says that all Englishmen under the age of 65 (I think!) should own at least one (long)bow and by law should practice with it on the village green (not many of those still around!) on a Sunday... If it hadn't, we'd probably be able to regularly outstrip Korea at the Olympics!

There's one in York...

In York it is still legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow, but only if you spot him within the city walls after dark.

The Welshmen in Monmouth sounds a good idea, now all I have to do is get my in-laws 20 miles to the West and the Games on. Are they allowed to shoot back?
