I'm lucky - I can shoot at work! How about you?

I've just taken up archery again after a lamentable gap of 10+ years. I work as a bursar in one of Birmingham's state schools and am fortunate enough to have a club that rents our school gym - Beaufort Archers as their winter indoor location.

On a Monday night, I stay late at work, walk down two flights of stairs, along one corridor and start setting up the targets and bosses. Archery this easy is a real priviledge!!

I wondered how everyone else fits in their shooting around work/family committments?

Matt

Now that's what I call lucky! Or did you take the job knowing archery was just two flights of stairs away?

Does working from home and having a target indoors in your home count?

No - took the job 'cause it came with lots more money than my previous school!! I'd been here a couple of months before discovering the club - as they don't arrive on site until 7pm.

Over the next year, the thought of a club meeting so close to where I sit became an itch that just had to be scratched.

As a result, I ended up going along, getting hooked again and treated myself to new equipment as my present to myself over Xmas. All I have to do know is remember how to shoot after a break of 10 years.

Did have some good news last night - coach has assessed my shooting and said that I don't need to re-do the beginners course (and club will offset course fee against membership cost - hurrah!).

Hmph! I've got a mad 30-mile dash from the wrong side of Leeds to get to the shooting range on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Not so bad at weekends though - just a mile from my house.

I've got so fed up with only shooting twice a week that we now have a boss in our flat :-) Thankfully the outdoor club range is available 365 days a year and is 5mins away, but not a lots of use at the moment when its dark when I leave and get home from work!

You all suck. I mean this in the nicest possible way - it's jealousy.

Come the summer I'm fully intending to get a foam boss for my garage and shoot into it - it's the length of my house. Should give me 10-15m if I stand outside. But as I'll be standing on my shared driveway to do it, I expect I'll have to soothe the neighbours a bit (though there'll be no danger).

Im lucky when i go to my folks i have a 20M indoor range set up in one of the barns - i just have to move a few cats before i start shooting

Down where i live in crawley i either have to shoot on a thursday evening with the club or brave the cold at the weekends and go down to the field course (which given the sudden dip in temp this week i may give a miss for a bit!)

I work next to the training department, which has a 30 long lab, normally empty.... which would be great for shooting. Dont think our EHS department would like it though
