| First piece of advice - don't get behind. It takes ages if you don't keep up to date. I use Joe Tapley's Club Recs program - does most of what I want. (Thanks Joe) Juniors - don't forget they will need their scores for the JAWS booklets (due in NOW everyone). AAS - for Juniors - they need 3 dozen scores (can be out of full rounds) submitted for their badges.

| PS - Make sure you get the official results from competitions - lots on the web but not all. And very few people can add up correctly - check the maths.

| Do Club Records Have to be shot at a Club or can they be shot by a club member at any event, I am being told by my records officer they must be shot at the Club. Sorry to Hijack the thread.

FWIW at our club a club record can be shot at the club or tournaments. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Every club I know of allows scores shot outside the club to be entered in the club's records. To be a good records officer, the main suggestion I'd make is to produce monthly handicap details for each member of the club, and annually to summarise the rounds recorded for each member and the handicap improvements. I was records officer of my club for a short time and didn't do either of these , largely because I don't have the slightest interest in handicaps myself. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| As the others have said, keep on top of it! Nothing worse than having a huge pile of score sheets to wade through (or inheriting them!). Yes, not allowing records shot away from the club would make the club records a nonsense! And as Trunkles said - JAWS booklets/AAS badges/Handicaps/Postals/Classifications/GNAS Handicap improvement medal etc etc etc! We also publish a list of which tournaments everyone shoots in and their positions. And then you could do it all again for the county! Enjoy ![]()

| Three suggestions: 1. stay up date - already mentioned (many tournament entries require hcap/class/age data) 2. strangle juniors at birth . With the age group changes and all the award systems they are 10 times the work of a senior archer.3. Only create expectations if you mean to keep up with them. By this I mean if historically updated handicap and classification data was only supplied twice a year everybody is happy. If you start supplying this info weekly and then miss a week you will get "where's this weeks update then?"
