| I think it is good manners to help out where I can. Either at my own club (or on the very rare occasions I shoot elsewhere) at others. We do have members who either don't assist, or swing the lead - carrying the mallets, pegs etc. These irritate me a little. T.

| Whats wrong with swinging the lead??? Pegging out 20 bosses takes a while and I'm sure its not good for your string fingers, but hitting stuff with a big hammer is very theraputic!

| Our club has a 'core' of members who seem to help out all the time. You can nearly set your watch on club nights by the time some turn up and vanish, usually 15 minutes after setup and 30 minutes before clearing away. We try and get there 10 minutes before to help setup, but having school age children means we have to go early. It also seems to be the same group that help out at have-a-go's and competitions. I did overhear a comment by an archer at another clubs competition. When a member of their club was teasing them about not turning up in time to help, they said that was up to those who did not do as well in competition and that the good archers should be left to turn up and shoot........ was this person joking? I hope so, but I get a feeling there are quite a few out there with that attitude ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| If you feel you are always the one sorting stuff out and setting up the field....... turn up late a couple of times, so as to give others the chance.

| It's a bit like families. In some, the kids are brought up to be involved in the house work. In others they are not. If all are expected to help then the training starts on day one. It is worth bearing in mind that help takes many forms. Some may set out the field, others may do the secretarial work etc etc. Some should not be asked to put out bosses, but others aren't always aware of the reason. |

| You have to give the juniors a job to do before and after shooting or they'll just watch the committee and core members set up / pack down. Generally everyone seems to assist when they are on time, some do more than others but thats just life i supose. "less able" archers do pins duty and put the shooting line out etc which is fair enough. I normally rock up first/second (if i remember to set my alarm) and go home last.
