Don't keep quiet ask said archer outright what he's doing.

If you get a negative response ask the judges what's going on, play the newbie card "should I be shooting one extra every end, like him?" ETC.

The first time my daughter shot the Metric day at the Junior nationals a couple of years ago, she forgot (had only done 1 metric before!) that you only shot 3 arrows per end on the shorter distances. Someone managed to stop her after the 4th arrow, but the Judge, whilst being sympathetic and saying they should have reminded everyone, deducted the highest scoring arrow which was a 10 if I remember, whilst the lowest was a miss, so a double whammy!

A friend of mine once made the interesting point: if you were changing distance in a FITA (from say 70m to 50m) and your first three arrows were really rubbish, (say 3, 3, 3) wouldn't it be more sensible to shoot more arrows in order to get your sight right for the next end? Assuming of course you don't shoot less than a three for any of your followups...

Sorry, where are some people getting their rules from? You shoot 3 arrows, full stop. If some one is shooting more than 3 call the b****y judge and tell them to stop. They are cheating.

I.ve just thought of something else, This is like a golfer putting down another ball because he doesn't like the first one!! If you're having a tuning problem then do it in your own time not everybody elses. Sort your problems out either at the practice session or at your club not at a comp.

I agree with the other posts on this subject, in a FITA Indoor Tournament you shoot three arrows an end (Only in practice can you shoot more) and if you shoot more than three arrows, you take the three lowest scoring values. The FITA rules are very clear on this aspect.

I shot only 4 arrows instead of 5 at a worcester once and as i didn't notice until the end was over I lost the chance to shoot it (got beat by only 2 points too what a bummer!)
So this guy is well out of order shooting and extra 20 arrows and getting away with it is unbelievable

Yep the guy has cheated and should have his score removed.
You should write to the judges administrator and complain. The judges should have noticed this and done something.
