| Ouch... 49th Thought 34th was bad enough last yearOf course if I'd have shot the same ranking scores as last year, I'd still only have made it to 46th... so I really only dropped 3 places. Yea, I like that way of looking at it better ![]() |

| How do you get ranked? Do you have to shoot in GNAS ranking competitions or something? Thanks in advance. |

| And how do they work out them there ranking scores?

| It's a whole lotta hoops to jump through to be honest: You have to shoot the minimum number of rounds below to qualify, and they take your best scores from: 3 x FITA scores 2 x FITA 720's 2 x Head to Head rounds (from separate tournaments) They add them all together and the person with the most points is first. The rest of us follow in disgrace There was an attempt in Archery UK to set up a parallel system based on York/Hereford scores, but I don't think many people bothered to send their scores in. |

| Yep, every season. I think this is one reason why FITA tournaments are getting busier and busier every year. At some of the bigger UK shoots it's not uncommon to see 60+ targets on the line. Because the ranking is based on total scores from seven different shoots, it (in my opinion) favours those who can the greatest number of tournaments during the year: the more you shoot, the better the chance of getting a few days of decent weather anf, therefore, the higher the average score. | I notice you're Bristol based Adam - just up the road - How far afield would you need to travel to get the required tounaments in? Its only my first year but I can't say I've noticed much going on in this neck of the woods - not Fita anyway.

| All of the counties hold a FITA Star tournament (eg. Exmouth, Cleve Archers in Bristol, Battle of Britain at Wrington, plus others in Salisbury, Swindon etc etc). There are an increasing number of 720's and head-to-heads around, but you may need to travel a bit further for these: the good thing about the 720's is that you get two full rounds in a day. Head-to-heads are a bit more scarce (though getting more popular) but, again, Cleve Archers (Bristol) have one in July every year. I tend to shoot a lot of mine at Lilleshall. It's a bit of a drag getting there, even from Bristol, but they have excellent (very cheap) B&B facilities, and camping too if you like that sort of thing. Actually, lots of the FITA Stars come along as double rounds, so if you spare the whole weekend you can get in two round at the cost of one journey. In any event, if you want a ranking, you've got to get out and about and shoot the requisit rounds. Adam |

| I guess quite a few passed me by this year - this time last year I wouldn't have thought for a minute I'd be shooting anywhere but the club! Of those you mention I only made the Battle of Britain - my one and only Fita to date! Certainly a different experience to the other tournaments I've managed to get to!
