NFAS Meltdown?

I have joined the NFAS recently and have yet to shoot a round on one of their registered club courses. Been checking their discussion board recently and must say I am shocked (almost) by the acrimony over the independents and clubs banning them from shoots?! What's going on? Hope it gets sorted soon

Brian, it is only one club that has decided to exclude independents from their shoots. I just hope no other club ever makes this decision.

Their decision to exclude independents was originally because the club thought there was an insurance issue. This has been proved false, the current theme appears that they believe that independents are free loaders that do nothing to help the society.

It isn't pretty on that board at the moment is it? I don't think it's ever been so active!

It doesn't look good, I have an interest in the out come as I became an independent this year.

The NFAS web board was really good fun at one time, everyone was anonymous, some had several log on names, I think I had three. But some people got very wound up and it began to get quite personal, so it was changed that everyone had to register. Now everyone knows who is posting and all the earlier fun has gone.

There is some back to front fella on there called Selwocnodlehs... He seems like trouble to me

He had the nerve to find me resistable!

He does sound a bit dodgy

There was also a Rednock, who became Lost Arrow (not the recent one) when he lost his first arrow at the 3D champs and Blue Peg who used to get a bit contraversal.

I shouldn't really comment as I'm not a member of NFAS (although I'd like to try 'field at some point) but I have been following the discussion on the NFAS website and it's impossible not to have some sort of reaction.

I find it amazing that one person can railroad one club into a position which, as I understand it, is very much against the spirit of NFAS if it isn't actually against the rules.

The impression I get is that the NFAS executive don't really know what to do. My humble and completely off-the-wall opinion is that they should take some decisive action soon, before other clubs follow Clayton's example and the whole thing falls apart.

It's not pretty is it....

And all down to one or two individuals with a personal axe to grind.

But at least it seems now that the reasoning behind it all is finally out in the open and shown for what it is (seems that one protaganist made comments at the AGM that match it.....) then perhaps the exec can do something before there is much more damage done.

See, we can be just as daft as the GNAS in our own, sweet way....

I'm not NFAS but since it's been posted on here, I'm quite happy to chip in

Most archers just want to shoot and encourage others to enjoy the sport but It's sad but true that a very small minority seem only to be in it to try and control it.

The people running that club need their arses kicked imho

Sorry for the rant, but even from the outside it's obvious what's going on

People on the outside often have a clearer picture of the problem and the cure.
