Hey Daryn. I saw the piece in Bow International. I think it is great. I will see if I can track anything down around my way.

Will you be at the Evesham shoot next week? If so, I'll hopefully see you there.....

By the way, welcome to the forum.

Worthy cause. But I was very disappointed in this thread... I expected it to relate to the running joke in Private Eye about "discussing Ugandan affairs"...

from wikipedia:

"The phrase "Ugandan relations" (or "Ugandan discussions" or "Ugandan affairs"), for example, is a Private Eye euphemism for illicit sex, usually while carrying out a supposedly official duty. According to Brewer's Dictionary of Modern Phrase and Fable (2000) the term is a reference to an incident at a party hosted by the journalist Neal Ascherson and his first wife, at which fellow journalist Mary Kenny had a "meaningful confrontation" with a former cabinet minister in the government of Milton Obote, later explaining that they were "upstairs discussing Uganda". The poet James Fenton apparently coined the term."

Uganda appeal still running...

Just as a gentle reminder, or for anyone who missed this first time round (coz I've been talking to Daryn)

Stratford Archers are supporting a Ugandan Archery club by sending spare kit over (they've done an exchange recently) Check out Bow International article in the latest edition for details.

Daryn tells me "when we went over , we took 10 trainer bows , 2 tournament bows and a couple of longbows i made as personal presents , i think we doubled the amout of kit in the WHOLE country !!"

So if you have anything spare that you'd like to donate, get in touch with darynrad@gmail.com. For more info have a look at Stratford Archers under their Uganda appeal section.

Thanks

Hi Daryn, I spoke to you about this at your Albion, I have a trainer bow, and a load of arrows you can have. If I can, I will bring the stuff out to you on Sunday (your next tournament).

Don't ask me why, but I suddenly remembered that my lads school doesn't have a single javelin to it's name - even though javelin is on the borough sports list!
Whats that to do with anything?

Conclude what you will from my meanderings.

thanks for you're kind offer of said trainer equipment , any and all stuff is needed out there .......
i didn't see you sunday , the weather was a little poor mind ....i was gonna go to the gnam , but as it's been cancelled , if you think you might have other club members prepared to clear out thier broom cupboards , make a BIG pile of kit and i'll arragnge collection or summit , things are staring to move archery-wise in uganda with the opening of 2 new clubs since our visit , allthough this does mean now theres more archers they are back to sharing a bow between 4 !! does mean many more are enjoying archery mind
thanks for your offer and support '
warm regards ' daryn
