I have always considered that I am competing against myself, trying to shoot the best that I can. Where that places me with regards to GNAS rankings and other archers is secondary.

Winning has no value if you know you shot badly. So from that perspective I think competition has less value than personal achievement.

Having said that, I'm a little confused why you would be worried about a competition classification (often used to rank you with your peers) if you do not shoot competition??? If you know you are good enough, but don't wish to prove it in competition amongst your peers, be happy with that.

As has been said in this thread before you don't have to "compete" to gain your GMB you just have to turn up and shoot your 511 or 716 (looking at your profile you seem to be long bow) three times and b*gger off. You don't even have to talk to anyone if you don't want to enjoy the social side of a tournament.
