| I use binoculars on the line indoors, a scope outdoors and have day glow orange nocks which stand out quite well against all colours on the face.

| I always use a scope outdoors, & binoculars indoor. To shoot blind imho is a waste of effort as you can only check you shots on retrieval. ![]()

| Anything tied on to the arrow is bound to have an effect at the longer distances, it will lower your impact point and will increase any wind drift. I would also imagin that other archers shooting on your target would not be too happy with dangly bits obscuring the gold or their own arrows. Get a scope and use it for every arrow you shoot (except for the last one if any judges are watching).

| I believe there is a rule in some tournaments aginst scoping your last arrow(if not, it's certainly considered 'bad shooting etiquette'). This is to stop wasting everyones time while you minutely examine the target trying to see exactly where your last arrow went amoungst the twenty three others already in there. I was once warned by a judge for doing this even though I wasn't the last one on the line.

That aside, I have since discussed the thing with our local national judge out of curiosity. He said that related to this, there is a bit of a debate in FITA at the moment as to when to put the red light up- can it be put up as soon as all archers are off the line even if full 4 or 2 mins shooting time not elapsed, or should it always await the clock.... obviously the former option can speed up the tournament. He therefore didn't personally have any prob with a person checking their last arrow if they were within time and lights and not last on the line but technically you are not supposed to check- you finish shooting the arrows then hoof it off the line. Simialrly in FITA you don;t normally await the person on the same target shooting their end- I think the main point is that you leave the line immediately you finish shooting. Maybe Graham Potts can give more info on this if he's reading? P.

| Invest in a good set of Binoculars or a Spotting scope and a tri-pod.
