RE: First Competition

Three days to go - have you got all your gear together? Any little items, like spare arrow rests? Clothes - GNAS dress code stuff - is it all ready?
And do you know the way? The first time I went to the Wetherby venue, I spent 90 minutes cruising North Yorkshire because I took the right turn off the wrong roundabout!
Sleep is quite important, too
But remember. Above all, everyone there will be only too willing to help you enjoy breaking your duck. And I bet you will outscore me

Furface -

Yep, I think I'm all ready and packed!!## #

I only live about 3 miles away in Knaresborough, so thankfully I don't have the hassle of trying to find the venue or a long drive prior to the comp.

As for outscoring anyone, well that's highly unlikely. I 've never shot a York round, or that number of arrows in a day and have only shot 100 yards about#8 times But it'll be fun - I hope!

Good luck to you Furface and anyone else attanding Wetherby this weekend.

RE: First Competition

Though it looks like it'll be raining over Wetherby this weekend (no surprise there..) still make sure you slap on the sunscreen... I have a slightly embarrassing burn line, straight down the middle of my face and neck from shooting last weekend on a windy, cloudy day!
Hope you shoot really well on Sunday, I think you'll enjoy it, the Yorkshire lot are generally a friendly happy crowd!. See you there!

I can sympathise with the embarrasing burn! Shot a 9doz round on a sunny but#windy day a couple of weeks back and (due to the lack of any hair on my head) came home looking like an unstruck match Remedied it now by the purchase of a very nice Tilley T3 hat - which probably makes me look like a complete twonk, but it saves me burning in an unsightly manner

RE: First Competition

Avalon - Yea I had a great time. I'm a bit sore#today, having never shot#all day before (most had been 2 hours prior to the comp).

I reached my personal goal of 1st class bowmen standard . Although I have to say after shooting 100 yards and#looking at my score I thought it was going to be impossible - especially as I missed a few times in a pour down of rain, which pushed my arrows off the boss low (my excuse and I'm sticking to it )

I have one problem now though! When and where's the next comp - I need more NOW .
