| Furface....please firstly excuse my ignorance, but are there matters involved that will affect the everyday archer? If so....can you point to the background material? There may well have been a notice advertising the AGM at my club but it seems everyone is more excited about the latest result, score, new bow etc. I dare say that many others will agree with me here. I've only been involved in archery for three years, and to be honest I spend all my time thinking about how to improve my scores ....without taking into account the bigger picture. I am involved in our clubs' committee and would welcome perhaps a little guidance on the first step into this area of archery.

| The AGM pack has not been sent out yet, but it will be soon as it has to be available to members at least six weeks before the event (I think that's the period). Yes, most club members are (understandably) more concerned with their own affairs. And, as I said, I did not wish to comment until I have seen the nominations. But there could well be issues about how GNAS is headed, the balance between elite/grassroots, where to get and how to use funding, buy-in to the SDP. The background (I'm afraid) can be found in the SDP and Archery UK - all the bits in very small typeface! Plus, of course, there might be a proposal to up the subscription.

| Harlequin, if you look under Furface's avatar, you will see that he is the 'wearer of many hats'. Some of those hats are rather large ones within GNAS so it is obviously invidious of him to make any comments or recommendations. However, my views on GNAS are well known - after all, I've aired them at every opportunity! I'm sure Furface won't mind if I say once again that in GNAS we have a governing body that is operating at least fifty years out of date and needs to be brought into the twenty-first century, preferably in a peaceable fashion - but kicking and screaming if necessary. The whole concept of 'clubs' having a vote and not individual members is a case in point. So long as people ask the question you do - 'is there anything that will affect little old me?' - we will be stuck with a system from which most members are effectively excluded and in which a small elite, some of whom seem pretty remote from what is actually happening on the ground, make all the decisions, many of which will affect 'little old us'. Furface's message is clear - take the opportunity to look at the matters under consideration, think about them, and make sure your opinion is expressed. Then ensure that a club representative takes those opinions to the AGM and accurately reports them. If no-one else in the club can be bothered, get yourself nominated and do it yourself. Apathy brings only one reward. Furface, I hope you don't mind my little 'interpretation' of your post. I'm sure that if I have misrepresented your intentions in any way, you'll let me know soon enough!.
