| Shoe-shine stuff, large amounts of silicone in it, comes from Morrisons at 70p a pop, just cover the front six inches of shaft in it. Makes life so much easier, but you do have to get them to apply it fairly often. EDIT: I've just reread that... think I'll leave it as it is. ![]()

I am quite astomished that we don't hear more of archers straining their arms/back pulling arrows. But it ain't just the compoundeers' arrows. My pathetic little powder-puffs were the deuce to get out of the boss at the Ironman. Edit: On reading that, I seem to have been blessed with a touch of the Frankie Howards.

| On tightly wound straw bosses dipping the end of the arrow in water seems to make the arrows come out easier |

| I have been in the situation where two or even three archers have struggled to remove the compound archer's arrows from straw bosses. I was very glad of their help, too. I have recently bought Axis FMJ's. Problem solved. I can now pull my own arrows unaided. I am independent again! ![]() |

| Shooting Recurve BB at Busa i did injure my shoulder, my arrows actually left visable holes in the boss and needed 2 ppl to pull them, im glad i offerd to pull arrows ddo as i was on a target with 3 girls. My bow was only a 38lb and i had 2013's as arrows. One target that had a bangor archer on got pulled off its stand due to how tough it was.

| I used to have the same problem with Ally Carbs, silicone helps a lot makes them easy to pull. I am now using FMJ's no problems now pulling them, put silicone on as well and they are dead easy.

| NDY says "I shot at Lilleshall when the Matthews solo cam 1st came out, there were 2/3 people on every arrow for the double FITA. The following week I was shooting a double American and ended up shooting with the same geezer! After the sighters, I said "I'm not going through all that again, you shot them - you pull them...... he lasted 2 dozen arrows!" I know that clubs have the choice of various bosses but you must remember the cost effectiveness of said bosses. Do you buy the dearer one which is a bit softer and doesn't last as long, or do you buy the cheaper one which is tougher and sends archers home early??? ![]()

| The problem lies with the stramit and straw bosses that clubs seem obsessed with using. Many Australian clubs are using a shrink wrpa material now and the arrow come out with 2 fingers, are cheaper to make and don't damage the arrows. Crushed shafts from side impacts are non-existant. Untill your clubs catch on, you should do the scoring and let others pull the arrows. ![]()
