Talking first ever competition

I have just got back from my first ever competition shoot.

I was very apprehensive when setting of for Worksop this morning and even had nervous butterflies when I got close to the rugby ground. I was worried that as a newbie I would make a fool of myself, was I wearing the right colour green trousers? Would everyone be looking at me because I only had evo2 limbs and not some mega expensive kit?
But what a day, the people were brilliant, and friendly, the organisation was great and the pie chips and peas for lunch were fantastic.
The people on my target were happy to explain things when I wasn’t sure.
After the first dozen I felt comfortable and relaxed and went on to shoot a Western PB of 710. (Well cuffed)

If you are a newbie like me and are thinking of having a go at your first competition, but are worried about it, then don’t! I have had one of the best days out in ages, today, and will defiantly be booking some more comps this week.

Sorry should of said “My First Ever Tournament” done loads of competitions since my beginners course in December at my own club ground, and shot scores for my second class on club target days, but this is my first time at a proper Tournament, shooting with archers from loads of different clubs at one venue.

mine too!

i had exactly the same experience this last sunday and I have to say I was blown away by the friendly and helpful approach that everyone took!
My score was utter pure unadulterated crap but it was my first competition and i have been shooting for 4 months now... this my first time outside and first time over those distances (western.... and i scored 418)
The most important thing was that everyone i met was helpful and frinedly and really encouraging too!
Im unclassified as yet but in time im sure ill climb the ranks!
