| Commonweath Games: more sports to be allowed The Commonwealth Games Federation has lifted the cap on the number of sports in the games. This had been set at 15, but the 2010 Games in India may now include 20 or 21 sports. This cap has been the major factor squeezing archery out of the games, but this increase makes archery's inclusion more likely in 2010. | RE: Commonweath Games: more sports to be allowed Call me pessimistic if you like, but you know what will happen don't you? They'll leave archery out in favour of beach volleyball. Now there's a real sport ![]()

The Indians are very keen on archery. They have a Korean coach running their national system. They've GOT a national system . And Jhanu Hansda recently set a new world record for women's 70m compound (352/360). I reckon archery will get in.

| RE: Commonweath Games: more sports to be allowed Apart from joining a club and#GNAS and trying to recruit others to take up archery, what can we#do to support and promote the sport on a larger scale?

We had a visit from the karate organisation last night - they were in the area going door to door and chatting to people about karate and signing people up for local clubs so there's always that option - but it does take a lot of time and effort and I'm sure that not many people would be up for it :)

 Quote:

Hmm. Time to rethink the dress code for archery, then. Or perhaps beach archery (no discrimination here, cuz the#ladies need something to look at, too, you know!!)#
