Selection Shoot 23rd April 07

Did anyone go? If so did it go well?

Does anyone know results of the adults or juniors?

Just out of interest

I was there for Saturday and half of Sunday.
Tom Barber shot a new junior British record of 115 for a 12-arrow pass.
Alison shot a new British record of 116 for a 12-arrow pass.
Nichola was the only lady compound to qualify.
Alison, Naomi and Lana were shooting well and probably finished as the top three, though not necessarily in that order.
Gents recurve was a ####-up for the top three - it changed about every match. Looked like Larry, Alan and Simon Terry though. But there's still another next month.
Gents compound, Froggatt was shooting really well on Saturday, as were Chris White and Andy. Sunday was a completely different game again. It was anybody's guess who would end up on top.

Didn't really follow the juniors. I know Eddie and Tom were shooting well.

Cool - thanks for the info.

I think the other two Junior Gents Compounds were Tapani Kalmaru and Matt Arnold then? I could be wrong.

Juniors Selected for European Champs

At the end of the selection shoot on Sunday they announced those juniors that had definitely been selected. Apparently there are several others that have been selected subject to achieving certain scores in the next few weeks. Who they are was not said, but they head coach (Peter Suk) had spoken to them.

So, here's the list that I wrote down at the time. This is a totally unnofficial list as I may easily have mis-heard or missed someone out (my frozen hands weren't very fast at writing). Also, it's quite possible juniors selected may not be able to go, so until it appears on the GNAS website (well actually until they arrive in Portugal) it is all subject to change. Anyway, here it is:

Recurve Junior Men
Eddie Spouge
Glen Croft

Recurve Junior Women
Nicole Allan
Jenesta Smith

Recurve Cadet Men
Tom Barber
Alec Wheeler
James Mortlock

Recurve Cadet Women
Sarah Smith

Compound Junior Men
George Fenton
Matt Arnold
Tapani Kalmaru

Compound Cadet Men
Jake Bunce
Matt Gardner
Matt Rudge

Compound Cadet Women
Rosie Smith

I think that everyone there did very well considering the conditions were not ideal. It was cold in the mornings with an icy tail wind that changed direction during the day. There was also the odd spot of rain during Sunday. Given all that Tom Barber still managed to break 2 British records and Alison Williamson broke one as well. So, pretty impressive shooting. I was also very impressed by Alison who once she had finished shooting on the Sunday went for a run around Lilleshall (quite a warm down!).

Just to add to the fun for the adults, the suits turned up on Sunday afternoon (that's the drug testers) and several of the ladies and men were tested. (I don't think any of the juniors were tested).
