| Truth is, that in the days when Dave was winning medals and national titles, the results list of European and World championships read like a "who's who" of British archery. The early 70s to early 80s seemed to produce a crop of particularly good archers in the UK. Did it not OB ?, with your historical records ? I suppose the most famous in Field were Mike Houghton and Chris Jones. They went across to GNAS comps in the 80s, and excelled there too. Others like Dave Till, John Allen, Bob Jewel, Eddie Parsons, Eddie Calvert, John Lamb were also consistent top 10 placers in European and World events at IFAA. They were also the Pioneers of Compound shooting in the UK.

| Bernie Dicks, currently in Nottinghamshire. Although I'm still trying to convince him to dump the recurve, as a compound archer in the olden days , he was legendary.Leslie Mcpherson, Hampshire. He was always my idol as a kid and beating him for the first time is still one of the highlights of my career. Peter Jones, Hampshire. Although he surcumbed to the wheely side, Pete still remains the most accurate recurve archer I've ever known, if he could've just sorted out his freezing on the clicker, he would have been dominant. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
