| I found that the club I was with, I ended up doing it all myself, you could ask people to help out but you almost had to pander to their busy schedule. I many times stood up in front of the club and told people they should get involved but enevitably you always got the rubber ear, because it didnt matter what you said, people always have an excuse. I even recall once having a go at the club for being lazy and leaving it to a minority to do all the work and the following weeks the whole club were wonderful and got involved but after a while it was back to the same old habbits. I remember one couple of months I decided bugger it Ill turn up late a couple of times and see how they like it, people moaned and groaned as I at that time was the only person with a key for the container. I suppose on reflection looking back it might have helped to have something listed in the club rules about all club members getting involved. But you know Florence the worst part about it all is rarely do people thank you for all the work you doing and thats the bit that causes us the hardworkers to even have a conversation like this, I could go on for hours about this subject.

| I feel letting people know theres stuff to do gets volunteers, however if "the usual suspects" do everything then others don't push themselves forward. This leaves "the usual susoects" feeling put apon and everyone else not knowing why they've got the hump!

| I got fed up with being the only key holder turning up on time so made a rota, which basically said that the designated key holder could leave afer 20 minutes of the start time if the weather was adjudged to be unsuitable and no-one else had turned up. That way we all has an outside chance of having to turn up on evening we might not want to. This after I got a complaint from a seldom seen Club member who turned up at 7.30pm one wet and windy evening and complained most fulesomely that no-one had been there!! and another evening I turned up late to find everyone with bows ready and no targets Also had a treasurer resign after 3 weeks complaining I'd pushed her into doing it Honestly though - if you can get some sensible rotas set up and play to peoples strengths you can get things done, stands built beginners classes run etc etc

| It works both ways. People have to be willing to let go. It is not always the case but there are people out there who whinge about doing it all, then criticise when others get involved. Such dictators want their cake and eat it too. All members need to feel that they are equal irrespective of committee position or otherwise. Worse still is when such people appoint a puppet commitee to do their bidding |
