Fletching Jig

Not a piece of archery equipment but what an archer does when, having purchased the new and very expensive tool for placing fletchings on arrows, notices that for the first time in using it for the making up of arrows, that all fletchings are at 120*, are all at the same offset angle, have both tip and tail aligned, that there is no more extra glue than absolutely necessary on the fletchings, that when the clamp is removed from jig and arrow that the fletching isn't stuck to the clamp, that the colour sequence of all fletching used are the same on all the arrows, that all the nocks were put into the jig the same way round, that all the fletchings are straight and not bent due to the aggressive nature of some glues, that all fletching bases are flat to the arrow...and above all..they look good. When all the above has been duley noted by said archer, it has been known for said archer(s) to dance around the jig and over the passage of time became known as *The Fletching Jig*.

I thought it was the other way round. When the archer has found that the arrows are all wrong and it was caused by the bit of equipment that put the fletches on. The archer usually does a dance with a stamping motion up and down on the defective bit of kit, thus venting the frustration and that was a 'fletching jig'.

Aren't there two variations of the fletching jig? Fletching jig Bitzenburger and Fletching jig ...................... The former is a happier sort of jig with lots of smiling and waving of the whole hand. The latter is more serious and the steps are more pronounced with waving usually done with only two fingers."Burger" is often shortened too.
