Sorry, Shirt, I've only got one string on my bow and I get easily confused with all the talk of cables and strings on compounds

No major drama with a string breakage on a compound as, unlike most recurves, the limbs are bolted in securely and held by the cables.

But the actions of this guy are scarey to say the least. Has anyone suggested that he tie a nock point on?

That is a real worry - what happened to being competent to shoot?? lol

On a more serious note - just how will the bow be affected with its recent shave?

or try a different size nock point?....or perhaps a sport where he is less likely to injure himself and maybe others, through his actions.

I don't know..perhaps extreme ironing..

I can see it now - first he uses piano wire for the nock point to make sure it's strong and durable, and then dons a welding mask while firing up his cutting torch to seal it onto the string good and proper . . .

Didn't PSE actually do something very similar on the X-Factor recurve riser? I bought one recently and sure enough there is a machined rebate about 20mm wide and 3mm deep running across the riser on the arrow shelf side, where the button fits - this is not evident on pictures of older X-Factor risers. I am sure there was something about it on the PSE website, with a claim like "new improved clearance"! Hmmmm.

The X-Factor riser does have an inset area around the arrow rest like you describe, but given the reputation of the designer I'm certain it's a damn sight safer than filing a groove into the riser with a file.

I would hope that PSE put a little thought & design into the process, rather than simply taking a file to a crate of risers.
