Stupidity on the line.

One of the stupidest things I've probebly ever done on the shooting line is this. I was on a 3D fun shoot up pentref, I nocked the arrow, drew up (nothing stupid so far) and as I was about to release the arrow came off the rest, and swung sideways - without me noticing - Thinking everything was hunky-dory i released. There was an awfull thunk and the arrow ended up stuck in the ground behind me somwhere

But the stupidest thing I've done off the shooting line was when all three fletchings and the nock had come off in a competition. So I sat down to repair it. Being a newby at the time I wasn't exactly shure what I was doing, but after half an hour it was done, and I was very happy with the result. That was before I noticed that the pile was rather rough, and I finally realised what I had done, I had glued the nock to the pile, and I had glued the fletchings on the wrong end of the arrow.

Any one else done any of these two things?

I wouldn't tell a soul if I had...I'm not as brave as you!
I did recently get the needle to my release and decide to talc my serving......Next arrow I clicked into place (below the nock point as it was now the same colour) and marvelled how on earth I could possibly end up with an arrow in the ground around 80 yards - when i was only shooting at 50 yards!

Not nearly so funny as yours though, well done for being able to laugh!

Saw one at a shoot recently - the archer also had the arrow come off the rest. It passed in front of the nose of the person behind him on the line and hit the next person along.

I have done a similar one to the fletching incident. I put a fletching in the clip, put the superglue on and stuck it nicely to the arrow. When I took the clip off I'd put the fletching in back to front! D'oh!!

Arrow jumping off the rest for me... (I posted somewhere below)... It went 45 degrees from the line of sight and it is still buried somewhere in the field. I wonder how your arrow managed to fly backward! Scary!!!
