it's a limb thing...

Feel I should nominate by better-half into this section.

She got her new bow last summer and had only shot with it a couple of times. We were in a league match and she was shooting a blinder, that is, until our club coach pointed out that her limbs were on upside down.

Yes folks, the top limb was on the bottom and vice-versa.

The irony of it is that her tiller was that far out that when the limbs were on wrong the tiller was roughly where it should be, as soon as she swapped them over her scores started to drop, there were a few followed by some more .

As for me, i've been at the shooting line for the first arrow of the day, been at full draw waiting for that clicker to do it's thing and then out of the corner of my eye i can see my whole forearm. No blooming arm guard. You then have a choice, release and take the risk or come down and face the abuse from your fellow archers...rock and hard place springs to mind

My wife's coach recommends always coming down on the first arrow of a shoot. Part of the mental preparation. It sets in your mind that it is OK to come down if you are not happy with the shot.

Me, I'd just make the shot, flinch as I loose then after the relief of not hitting my arm I'd start bitching about the 5 that now meant I had no chance of improving my PB this time. Again. And then prove it by ending up about 4 behind my PB.

Mental game this archery...

Mmm, seems aka_Womble had the same problem at Wakefield on Sunday.

He was into the 3rd or 4th end and couldn't work out why things weren't going too good.

Ah well, these things are sent to try us.

Sunday morning was a real upside down bow day. I was well into 2 dozen arrows at Blackpool before I woke up and realised the limbs were the wrong way. So, like the idiot I am, turned them the right way and went on to shoot my personal worst....

It's amazing how many people say 'you won't do that again....'

You just watch me....

Womble did the same thing on Sunday - he realised he could see the Aardvark Archery sticker on his 'top' limb!!

I can honestly say that I've never got the limbs on upside down...

However, there have been two occasions when I have got as far as the line to shoot sighters, got to full draw - and wondered what the kisser is doing getting caught up in my shirt collar...

I shot with limbs upside down during two months... I found that my sight was too high. I just set it without thinking I did something wrong with my limbs... What a shame when my coach discovered my mistake...
