Shot in the arm

OK, so I'll admit to this one. Whillst enjoying some quiet practice in the garage at home yesterday. Standing at full draw, at the point of release the nock snapped causing the arrow to depart at a very perculiar angle the said arrow impacted on the riser, luckily taking most of the power from the shot. The arrow then spun around 180 degrees and impailed itself nock end first into my arm. Bit of a nasty shock, quick trip to the hospital a lost of explaining but all ok.

Ouch! Thank goodness it wasn't more serious.

Still, a good example of why shooting in a garage is far more sensible than shooting in the garden - with the best will in the world accidents like this will always happen and anyone shooting in the garden risks chucking an arrow into the neighbours garden (or worse, into the neighbour) no matter how good a shot they are.

Hope you recover fully from the injury.

Thumbs up Wrong again, naturally

Hope your are healing well!

I suffer from Bipolar illness and 99% of the time I am quite good humoured about it since it is really well controlled these days.
I recently took up archery and someone in my wife's family pulled my leg about the one thing that never impresses me, suicide. "Oh, hey, Scot How's the archery, not commited suicide by bow then?"

I warmly assured them they were a d*&k said it would have to be one of the last great impossible things in the world to shoot yourself with your own kit.

Wrong again!

Hope you're OK now Monkfish,
All the best,
Scott

Your own arm is about as far away from the target as you can get. Surely this is worth a Fonz for sheer lunacy.

Shooting in garden

Indoors is safer than shooting in the garden.Usually.When a newby, a long time ago, shooting in the garden at my wooden studio wall 25 yds away with a target propped against it, quite safe, nothing can go wrong. Suddenly, a towel on the line, way out of line of the shot, flicked in a sudden shift of wind, deflecting arrow upwards. Arrow sailed easily over studio, over very high hedge, down garden behind. I went into the next street, found the house, fortunately there was no-one home and their back garden was accessible. my arrow was in the ground just below their back window. A lucky escape! It certainly made me much more careful from then on about where I shot.Have never tried it in a bedroom though.
