..... beginners will miss in style.

Now before I start I was not coach in charge and should not even have been at the range.

Last night on the beginners course one of our beginners managed to shoot the fire alarm box. The ironic thing is we moved them from the end boss because of a gap between the net and the right hand wall and we did not want any stray arrows hitting the stage seats. So instead we got an arrow missing the huge boss and hitting the alarm box (from the side) a further 5y down the range. Now if we had said hit the tiny red box...........

Forgot to mention it was also junior night..... talk about chaos.

The "Coach in charge" has grovelled and apologised profusely to school headmaster, on behalf of club and now feels like a naughty schoolchild.

Ok, I admit it, I was "in charge" or not as the case may be! Sh*t happens, but why is it always happening to me.

Having said that, credit where credit is due to the lady, she didn't break the glass, but got in behind it!

The said headmaster has been very understanding and the whole school has had a great laugh at our expense (literally!)

It doesn't just happen to beginners. I was at a competition last Sunday and we were informed by the Organiser that the hall was being re-painted. An experienced archer had a shoulder collapse at full draw resulting in a release that caused the arrow to hit and run along the side wall (she was on target 2), miss the end of the netting and puncture the wooden panel on the end wall. One of the host club then had to see if any of the competitors had a blue marker pen to camouflage the hole before the painters returned this week. Oops! A good time was still had by all.

We started a beginners course a few weeks ago at our club,for 21 people.We had 7 club members on hand to be coaches, and decided that before any of the beginners shot, each coach would shoot with the trainer bows and demonstrate how to shoot.
Unfortunately one of them ( and I won't mention names, but he recently won the Novice championship) put the arrow on the wrong side of the riser, and then shot it into the wall! How NOT to do it.
Mind you, not one of the beginners missed the boss all night.........

How on earth do you manage to put the arrow on the wrong side of the riser?! Surely it would just fall off.

Also the shape of the riser, lack of ledges and just about everythig would have been a clue.

Small but perfectly formed, however I do think Vanya Gouds' arrows are slightly longer than mine and she also uses big allys for indoors
