And there's the problem - the wife will never believe that you caused all those holes with one arrow, so if the truths no good......

RGS, this sounds like you need to attend confessional with Father Gold Flinger, possibly with a few 'hail Marys' and a second Fonz Award for your efforts...

I think you need to confess all, I'm sure your wife would have noticed the holes if it was she that hung the washing out!!!

Of course SHE hung it out BY THE SHOOTING RANGE. I suggest, Capitain Hastings, that the blouse was already "holey" when she did it, and you have been framed. Devious folk, these wives!

While I can see the logic of this, I think you could get me into trouble, so I think I had better go with the Ladie's opinions....far safer.

Are you POSITIVE the holes weren't there before you started shooting? Maybe she hung it out there in the knowledge you would shoot next to it, poked some random holes in it herself and hoped you could somehow be blamed for it.
Yes, it's a longshot, but it is possible.
Perhaps you could say there was a very large, venomous spider on it and the only thing you could find to kill it with was the arrow you had in your bow. You got the spider, but the blouse was a consequence!
