All manner of madness

First post here, hopefully not the last =)
I haven't been immersed in the archery world for long but I have already heard some of the strange happenings that go on from the forums.

I myself managed to vandalise my own bedroom when trying out my snazzy new bow for the first time. Low ceilings, sticky-down light fixtures and a bow don't make very good friends. So here goes. I set up my bow for the third or fourth time since I have bought it, I had a few weeks waiting before archery practise started again so I figure I might as well get acquainted with my new weapon. The flat I am staying in (I'm at University at the mo) has freakishly low ceilings, but just high enough that you don't really notice when setting up archery equipment. Proud of my swiftly assembled bow I start going through the routine of foot positioning, shoulders etc. and then raise my bow arm.

As luck would have it I was in just the right spot for the top limb to collide like a cream pie in the clown-face of the big light. Said light then proceeds to fall from the ceiling followed by an army of dust. A quick vacuum and some well positioned blu-tac later and landlords would be none the wiser. But now I make sure not to stand there again.

I also saw someone from my club during a competition about to set up a shot from a few metres behind the shooting line. Not as crazy as some of the other fonz-worthy antics, but still a bit silly.

This sounds like zealous newbie behaviour, so we need to know just how long you've been immersed in the archery world.

I've been archerising since October, so it could be classed as a novice mistake. But common sense would have saved the day =(

Although I did see the Disney version of Robin Hood (the one with foxes etc.) so that should add a few years onto my experience.

So when I shot a light-switch in my bedroom, simply because the loose felt natural, and I'd been shooting for 8 years... what's that called???

Welcome Zef, will we be seeing you at BUSA??

If the ceilings are high enough I may attend, although I don't know whether my club need extra newbies going. I'll just have to wow them with my new bow.

I recently managed a spactacular #### up recently. I was setting up my clicker and arrow rest for my new arrows (I've been playing around with my clicker a lot anyway) in my living room, and i was so focussed on the draw i actually loosed... ooooops

i managed to shoot through the curtain and the venetian blinds and into the pvc window frame - i missed the glass by about a half an inch. that was quite a shock to the system!

Sad thing is, I don't use a clicker with my recurve, I was getting into the swing of recurve for BUTC.

And I probably won't see you at BUSA, my club has decided to put me down 14th in the list of people to go to BUSA.
