worthy of a fonz???

After spending lots of money on a nice length of yew my clubs longbow captain spent about 4 months carving himself a new longbow, he eventually got it shaped and then spent a week tillering it. Drew it a few times then i had a go drawing it to see what the new poundage was like, then our housemate had a draw to see what it was like, got it to half way and BANG bits of yew flying round my housemates bedroom narrowly missing his new flat screen HD monitor/TV. At least we had some nice kindling for our next bonfire on the beach.

Don't know about you guys but i think this is worthy of a fonz

I dont think its worthy of a Fonz but still amusing.

Fonz awards are for truely idiotic acts, im affraid an exploding bow does not contribute.

Still equipment failure is not worthy. I was shooting barebow and forgot where my sighting was and shot my chest freezer. That was worthy. If you want a fonz go and do something as equally stupid as mine. Others have shot things like phones and light switches.

A longbow has to be trained to bend, it hasn't been tillered and carefully worked then it can explode due to the stresses in the wood.

You can be unfortunate like me and on a bow making course have six hours of work break when tillering it due to a flaw in the wood.

It is more of an "oh bugger" than a Fonz.

It could have been fonz-worthy if one of the broken pieces had gone through the new monitor/window/cuddly toy but I think without that its just an "oops" moment.

Erh! Before you go and do something stupid, we don't condone any deliberate acts of stupidity to get yourself a Fonz.

yew is highly poisonous so i wouldnt cook food over any fire that contained it! maybe im over cautious (ill ask my bushcrafting friends) but ive always been taught to avoid it.

apparently the smoke is a good insecticide and pliny noted that the smoke killed rats and mice so i think ill keep avoiding it.
