Sometime, when coaching a newish start, getting them to put a bend in is an TEMPORARY and expedient measure to get them roughly into a position where they won't hurt themselves. Some people present multiple challenges to thier teachers and you've just got to help them progress in stages and at least have some success and enjoyment from each session.

We'll have to disagree on that. The only circumstance I'd consider advocating a bend in the bow arm is for someone only shooting 6 arrows on a have a go stand. There is no substitute for teaching proper technique from the start, and it's far better than trying to unlearn poor technique later.

But we digress from the humour of the thread.
