Forgetting to de-string the bow??

Had to share the story of a lady in our club who "forgot to unstring the bow" before removing the limb bolts...

The limb pockets will be fine... once she's screwed them back onto the bow!!

Presumably the bolts themselves have been added to the mountain of space junk up there in Earth orbit?

Last week as we all started our first round of sighters, there was a very loud TWAAANNNGGG from behind me - everyone turned round to see a lady looking very bewildered at her bow and clearly wondering what happened....

... the next thing we heard was the coach saying "Er next time try using an arrow !"

It would appear she had setup for her sighters come to full draw, loosed and all this without an arrow !

Dry firing happens all the time. Even saw one of our national lady compound archers do it at squad training - so focused on the shot that she forgot the arrow (personally I've never done that, but I HAVE tried to put an arrow in the bow when there's already one there a few times )

As for the novel way of destringing the bow, she realised by the nasty cracking noise that something was up and stopped before the bow collapsed! Phew.
