| Application for the 1st Outdoor Fonz of 2006 I'd like to submit my application for the 1st award of the 2006 outdoor season. Yesterday evening, first (long anticipated) outdoor session of the year, and shooting alongside Grant Womack who had popped along to out field for a change of scenery. Freezing cold and blowing a hoolie. After just 2 ends and whilst concentrating really hard on beating the wind, I loose a perfect shot and, BANG, bow takes on a most unusual shape, pieces of string flap about in the wind, and I rush to change my underwear. Like a complete knob I'd been so focussed on the wind I'd forgotten to nock an arrow. The string parted somewhere about the peep sight and, but for the cables holding it all together, I'd still be picking up the pieces. Never saw the peep again though. Embarrassment aside, what really annoys me is that my favourite bow is out of commission until I get a new string (and cable set, to be on the safe side) made and installed, and it was all my own fault! Bugger! Adam |

| Yes, thankfully I wasn't at full draw when it went - I'm not sure I would have managed to hold onto the string! As an aside, I managed to shoot one through the clicker and into the 4 when Adam's bow went... Must practice focus and blocking out all other disturbances... | |||||||||||||||||

| OMG. This brings back memories for me when in the same situation as Grant. One of the first FITA's at Homebush Olympic Archery Park in about 1998. Open mens compound; shooting with a more highly ranked archer than myself. At 90 metres I was going OK, and on about the second last end I had put down 5 really good arrows. They felt good, and looked like well in the gold through a cheap scope. Other archer was to my left, and when I came up on full draw for the last shot I suddenly caught the sight of his Doinker falling off the stab out of the corner of my eye while he was also at full draw. I was able to let down, with howls of suppressed laughter. Regaining composure, and shooting partner replaced Doinker, we both came up to full draw at about the same time for the last arrow; I caught sight of the Doinker again out of the corner of my eye; could not stop giggling, and instead of letting down again, released. DOH Score that end 10-10-10-9-9 . . . -5 BUGGER. And I have still not been able to to get an All Gold for 90 metres to this day. ![]() Brian

| I've done it before - in my defence, I shouldn't have been shooting. Wasn't in the right mindset - very tired and had a stressful day flying and trying to sort things out at last minute. Didn't do any damage, thankfully.
