Something missing

A couple weeks ago my club held an Agincourt style shoot of which I was the winner .
The moment of stupidness came from one of our female archers 2 targets away from me.
We had just started our sighters, we were all shooting on the "NOCK,DRAW,LOOSE" commands. First arrow.

"NOCK"........"DRAW"......."LOOSE"......CRASH! !!.

I turn round to see what had happened. I look at the archer inquestion and examine her equipment, her shooting arm still aloft.

Riser...Check.
Sight....Check.
Button....Check.
STab's.....Check.
Limbs.....OH?

Limbs were found on the floor with the string still attached. When setting up her bow put in the limbs but forgot to make sure the limb dowels were located in the groves in the riser (international limb fittings). If that aint deserving of an award I dont know what is. We all laughed very hard.

Unfortunatly she aint part of AIUK so we can present her with an award.

Well that's fairly deserving of a Fonz award. You'll have to ask the lady to join AIUK so she can wear her Fonz with pride in her post profile

Oh didnt know. There we are then Dave. If its deserving then Motherhen should get the award. It was the most amusing sight I have ever seen. The day was a good giggle anyway but that moment just split my sides.

I did that once with one of my limbs... it didn't come off the riser but it made one HELLUVA bang. I've never done it since

Yeah wish I had taken a pic. The limbs were laying next to each other on the ground with the string still attached.

I managed to forget something else important yesterday...

It was the novice competition at the end of the beginners course, and the seniors were taking part to encourage the beginners to think of us more as archers than coaches, and so we could help them score etc without seeming like judges.

So there was me, adding up, and telling the novices not to pull my arrows (because they're a/c's and they didn't have pullers, i know carbon splinters are unlikely but you can never be too careful...), had to re-add one particular score a few times, wondered back to the line. Finished it and put the score board down.

A novice on my target shot an arrow, and i looked to see where it went. To my surprise there were a cluster of arrows in the middle of the target. 'Wow' i thought. 'She's really good!' The she went to shoot another arrow, and i realised she had two left.

Yep, you guessed it, i'd left my arrows in the target! So i got a lovely MMM on the score sheet, lots of laughing was done by all, and i, rather red-faced, had to score my lovely 10, 10, 9 as MMM. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!
