| I'm keeping my power dry on judges for the moment, I've only been to one outdoor shoot so far and they were faultless. imo |

| Things to remember about most clubs is that: 1) Many clubs do-not have access to electricity on the field of play(and it costs quite a bit to get it installed). 2) T/O is a voluntry position (as are all committee posts) so don't knock people for trying if you aren't prepared to volunteer yourselves(if you think you can do a better job). 3) If you can't hear anything ask for it to be repeated to you. 4) if its a T/O's first competition confidence is lacking and so tends to be nervous and things will be quiter as a result. 5) Make sure you, as an archer, are aware of the Rules Of Shooting for the comp you are attending so you do understand what is said and are confident in yourself that what you know is mostly correct. judges are there to tell you if something is wrong or to help you understand the rules, so if you dont understand just ask. I personaly will be using an amplifier at our burleigh shoot so i can be heard esaily (Roland £79 works for 20 hours on 6 AA batteries) The main thing to remember is to make a suggestion after the assembley or shoot to the T/O that the anouncements could do with being louder next time. |

| while i have strained to hear judges and officials sometimes (definitely NOT you though john ! ) i do appreciate the time and effort volunteer judges (and all the other volunteers who help to run shoots) put in to let the rest of us have some fun as has been said - make sure youve done your homework and if there is no PA gear then surely just ask for clarification on something you didnt hear slainte rob

| Because most clubs probably run on a tight enough budget as it is without having to purchase PA equipment for the 1 tournament they run per year.

| I agree it can be very hard to hear what the judges are saying, I tend to smile a lot, and clap when everyone else does. I think the 'run through' is thought to be unnecessary for most people, they are all old hands and know what to do, which can make you feel a bit of a div if you are new! The first time I shot a FITA 25, the judge there was brilliant and explained the whole rigmarole succinctly and expertly! For which I was very grateful. I still tend to check with target partners though ("What are we shooting again?" "Are these still sighters?'") But then hey... I don't know my waiting line from my elbow ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
