Cartel Activa sight and bits box!

Hi everybody!

a while ago i wanted a slightly better sight than my beginners one but didnt have the money to buy what i was after ( Sureloc ) so i settled for a Cartel Activa to make do for the next year or so.

The only thing wrong with it was the vertical adjustment. For a cheap sight, the micro clicks are quite sharp and positive, and suits my level of shooting perfectly. The problem was in the 'gross adjustment' button. When depressed, you should be able to slide the whole sight block up and down the track but it was VERY stiff and felt almost like it was grinding.

I took the sight apart and found out this is because of 4 metal ball bearings on springs that push against the track. When assembled they are under quite a lot of tension ( id say almost too much ) making it very hard to adjust.

i took 2 of these springs and bb's out, and cut the other sprngs down taking about a third off and re-asembled with only one spring set on each side instead of 2. It now adjusts like a dream compared to before! there is no play and it locks solidly when in place just like before, and you dont have to fight to adjust it now!

just a simple little thing, but thought id share in case anybody else noticed this with the Activa.

the other thing is Really Useful Products Ltd - Select country , spotted these boxes in a local art shop and i picked up one of the little ones. sits in a cutout of the foam in my bowcase and holds spare nocks and nock adjuster, allen keys and all the little tools i need to tinker with my setup in one place! great little thing.

the bigger ones are great for attic storage of old stuff as well

activa sight

hi my activa sight started making a really bad vibrating sound that went up the bow (not the first problem ive had with it) , i took the front off with the springs forcing one of the screws out of the hole and stripping it of the thread and found a part rusted and stuck ball bearing to be the cause of the vibration i cleaned the bearing and replaced it but now am without the sight as the thread is stripped on the inside of the mount. Anyone else had anything similar happen?

My Activa sight started making vibration noises when i shot. It was the steel rods that the sight block runs along coming away from the main body. I suppose if you buy cheap you get cheap. Super glue and lakey band fixed vibration but it now looks Shoddy.

I've now repaired the sight with a drill high, melting point grease and some liquid metal, its still going to be replaced with a better sight though
